Are you trying to find a peaceful practice?

Are you trying to find a peaceful practice?

Deep Breathing – Meditation – Mindfulness – Progressive relaxation – Massage – Soothing Music.

What do all of these practices have in common?  They are all ways for you to experience a relaxed state of being. Each method can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance which in return will benefit you by reducing stress while improving your emotional well-being and your overall health.

Doing one or more of these practices will benefit you in many ways.

• help you gain a new perspective on stressful situations

• help you manage your stress

• increase your self-awareness

• keep you focused on the present

• reduce negative emotions

• increase imagination, creativity, patience, and tolerance.

The health benefits include reducing anxiety, chronic pain, depression, high blood pressure, sleep problems, and tension headaches.

No matter what practice you decide to use, focusing your attention will help eliminate the stream of jumbled thoughts that may be crowding your mind and causing stress.

The benefits don’t end when your meditation session ends, meditation can help carry you calmly through your day and may help you manage symptoms of certain medical conditions.

Deep breathing, meditation, mindfulness, progressive relaxation, massage or soothing music help you clear away the information overload that builds up every day and contributes to your stress. If nothing else it gives you time away from the go-go-go to reset your thoughts and your body.

If you have a medical condition, especially one that may be worsened by stress, I encourage you to experiment with different practices and see what feels best to you. With that in mind, research has shown that having a daily practice can help you manage conditions such as anxiety, asthma, cancer, chronic pain, depression, heart disease, high blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome, sleep problems, and tension headaches.

It may feel overwhelming if you are dealing with stress or have recently been diagnosed with a condition. You know you want to start a new daily practice, but you don’t know where to start. Don’t worry. I have you covered. I created a handout that breaks all your options down. Check it out here.
